These ales tend to be sweet, fruity and texturally smooth. Many are higher in alcohol content than lagers and have a pronounced taste and flowery aroma. They are top-fermented. Most are served at 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Varieties include Pale, Red, Brown, Scotch and others.

It is a full bodied and flavorful beer that gets plenty of hop character from the use of a hop back. The dry hopped version is known as Alehouse IPA.

Nuttiness and a fine hop prominent. Ingredients: Maris Otter pale malt, crystal malt. Whitbread Golding Variety and Golding hops.

Added on Feb 24, 2010 Cask Seasonal - Christmas. Also available bottle conditioned (only from the Tastebuds shop next to the brewery). This is about as strong a beer as bitter gets before it is called something else. Its paleness deceives other senses. Bitter and hoppy with malty undertones.
