Porter (363)

This style originated in England evolving from a blend of beers once called “Entire”. This predecessor to stout styles is said to have been popular among porters, and hence its name. Porters are light brown to dark brown in colour, often with a ruby tint. The flavour has a moderate roasted malt taste which usually includes bitter chocolate, but often has coffee or licorice flavours as well. Hop flavour is usually non-existant although some bittering is used for balance. Similar to a brown ale, but is thicker and has more of a roasted flavour. The ABV is usually in the 4-7% range and IBUs are 18-35.

This medium-bodied ale is dark in color and deceiving on the palate. The glassy smooth finish of this beer is your first hint that dark in color doesnt always mean heavy in stomach.
