Description:
Set in the heart of Bayswater and only a stone’s throw from Hyde Park, The Mitre is a beautiful grade II listed building from 1850 which is popular with locals and tourists alike.
Having retained many of it’s original features such as etched glass, mosaic floors and open fireplaces, it is a fine example of a traditional English pub. Come and enjoy our relaxed and casual atmosphere where we serve fab food, a selection of real English ales, plus beers from around the world and a wine list to match anyone’s palate.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Menu:
Traditional pub classics served on the menu. The full bar menu focuses on home made traditional British food. On browsing through you will find traditional dishes such as Cumberland sausages, steak and ale pie and beer battered cod and chips alongside lighter bites, sandwiches, salads and puddings. We also offer a range of platters: perfect for a relaxed lunch or post-work munching.
History:
The Mitre is a Grade II listed building which we believe has been here since the 1850’s. We know that the mews it stands on the corner of would have been used as stables and staff accommodation and served the Lords & Ladies in the area. The Mitre has been used in many films & TV dramas, such as Woody Allen's Match Point & the BBC drama The Edwardians. The Ghost of a murdered coach driver has been seen by current staff members.
