Description:
Quirky from the outside, cosy on the inside, the Dulwich Wood House is great as a local and a lovely pub to escape to. It has a large dining room which opens out on to a delightful sunny garden, part decked and covered in case it gets chilly, and surrounded by leafy hedges - you wouldn't know you're in London.
Another Young's pub that regularly features in the Good Beer Guide, it was awarded a certificate for 28 years in the Guide in 2007.
A little known fact about the Dulwich Wood House is that after the Second World War, Rex Palmer was the tenant of the pub. Rex was one of the original five members of the BBC and he was the voice that for many years sang "Abide with Me" at the close of broadcasting on Sunday nights, as well as being Uncle Rex to the listeners of Childrens Hour.
