Description:
'Very nice place, Oxford, I should think, for people that like that kind of place,' said Bernard Shaw rather sharply.

Well, a lot of people do like that kind of place, 'That sweet city with her dreaming spires' (thank you, Matthew Arnold), including a great many Browns customers.

Many of our customers believe that Browns started in Oxford - it was in fact our second restaurant. We transformed an old Morris Garage into the archetypal British brasserie. We are situated where St Giles meets Woodstock Road - the restaurant has windows that open on to the street in the summer and is popular and very well known with students, families, business people and tourists to Oxford.

United Kingdom, Hospitality Group
Over the last three decades Browns has won a place in the hearts of the British public to become ‘an institution’. In 1973 when the very first Browns opened its doors, it did so with the simple belief that classic food, well delivered in a stylish environment would be a recipe for success.
